Submit a Student Tech Fee Proposal

Student_Tech_Fee The Student Technology Fee (STF) helps supplement the availability of technology to UW students, providing one-time funding for innovative facilities and projects that require capital investment. Proposals to the STF Committee may now be submitted; the deadline is January 13, 2010. Details are online.

UW Students Can Borrow a Laptop and Digital Equipment

Apple_macbook Students at UW Seattle can borrow a laptop as well as a digital camcorder, camera, or voice recorder, projector, audio system, and more. Checkout is three business days; some can be loaned for seven days. See the detailed list of equipment and photos online. UW Bothell and UW Tacoma run similar equipment loan programs.

School of Medicine Creates Consistency With Catalyst Web Tools

Med_student This fall, the School of Medicine began supporting first- and second-year courses online with two Catalyst Web Tools, CommonView and GradeBook. Faculty have found the tools flexible and easy to use, and students have benefited from a consistent experience across courses. Read the full story.

UW Administrative Printing Reduction Saves Three Million Sheets of Paper

Paperstack Printed reports from UW administrative systems are down 42 percent, thanks to the Office of Information Management, UW Technology, and central business units. This annual savings since 2008 equals three million sheets of paper, or a stack as high as three UW Towers. See the November OIM Highlights.

The UW’s new m.UW BlackBerry app - like the iPhone app already available - offers course catalogs, campus directories, maps, news, photos, and sports scores in a format optimized for that device.
