New "UW 360" TV Show Features UW Faculty and Their Work

UW360 A new 30-minute magazine-style show, UW 360, showcasing UW faculty work, premieres October 6 at 10:00 p.m. Produced by UWTV in conjunction with UW Marketing, the show features short segments that look at a wide range of UW-related topics, including solar energy and undersea footage launched from the UW research vessel Thomas G. Thompson via a network set up by UW Information Technology engineers.

Student Tech Fair – Computing on the Go: September 29

On-the-go2 Students are invited to visit the Student Technology Fair, hosted by UW Information Technology (UW-IT). The Fair is September 29, noon to 4:00 p.m., in the Odegaard Undergraduate Library, 2nd floor, at UW Seattle. Learn about new technology and services offered by UW, win prizes, and grab some giveaways. You’ll meet representatives from Adobe, Apple, AT&T Wireless, CDW-G, Google, Microsoft, Sony Style, T-Mobile, UW Bookstore, UW Catalyst Web Tools, UW Police, and UWTV.

UW-IT Student Tech Fair Talks: Upcoming Technology Changes

KellyTrosvig The Student Technology Fair on September 29 is also for faculty and staff. Of special interest are two presentations by UW Information Technology (UW-IT) regarding upcoming technology changes, both in Odegaard Room 220: Terry Gray, UW-IT Associate Vice President, on “Technology Fads vs. Fundamental Shifts” (1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.); Kelli Trosvig, UW-IT Interim Vice President and Vice Provost, on “IT Student Strategy Update” (3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.).

New Digital Media Series on UWTV Starts September 29

Hosein Media Space, hosted by UW Professor Hanson Hosein, will engage thought leaders on the hottest issues of the digital media age – technology, entrepreneurship, community, and entertainment. Starting September 29 at 9:00 p.m. on UWTV, the series will feature industry trendsetters like Ben Huh of the Cheezburger Network, Elan Lee of Fourth Wall Studios, Kate James of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Web entrepreneur Monica Harrington.

Catalyst Web Tools: September Open Houses and Workshops

Mobile.cloud Join Tom Lewis and his team to hear how Catalyst Web Tools and cloud computing resources contribute to campus eLearning. Sign up for a one-hour open house at UW Seattle on September 24, 28, or 29 to learn how the university portal, cloud computing, and mobile applications might have a role in filling your course management needs. New Catalyst Features Make It Easy to Manage Your Course Online

GoogleSites Check out the new campus-wide electronic portfolio solution -- the "Google Sites Hub" -- in CommonView. This solution enables instructors and students to build and share rich electronic portfolios using the Google Sites page creation tools, and helps instructors to manage the process through the Catalyst Web Tools. Also new to CommonView is public views and announcements in a workspace. And new to Your Groups, you can now include lists of people when creating or editing a group to control access to your Catalyst tools.
