MyUW Personalizes Tabs by Your UW Affiliation

Myuw The newest release of MyUW now provides a personalized set of resources for you, relevant to what you do at the UW. Based on your UW affiliations (such as student, faculty, staff, alumni), you will see tabs for Academics or Working or Teaching, etc. If you are a student and staff, for example, you will see relevant tabs for both. You can add and remove tabs, too, to make MyUW a more powerful portal to your UW resources.

UW Budget Reconciliation: Now in Real Time on MyFD

Fdi_reconcile Now you can reconcile your UW budget transactions in real time with Financial Desktop Initiative’s new online reconciliation tool. Part of a collaborative UW effort, this enhancement to MyFinancial.desktop (MyFD) eliminates the need for printed copies because all online reconciliation information is kept according to UW records retention policy.

Technology Services and Equipment Bill Merges UW-IT Charges

Bill The latest release of UW-IT’s Technology Services and Equipment Bill (TSEBill) provides units with a single, consolidated online bill for many UW-IT services, with more consistent and easier to understand billing details. Charges for telephones, managed desktop (Nebula), computer maintenance, sponsored NetIDs, smartphones, co-location, Exchange, and the Technology Recharge Fee are all now on TSEBill.

Solving Puzzles for Science: Watch UW 360 November 3

UW360 Watch UW 360 at 10:00 p.m. on November 3 to learn about Foldit, a game conceived by UW scientists to engage people in helping to advance knowledge in biochemistry. Players of all ages fold long chains of amino acids into compact three-dimensional shapes, and can excel over computers when a folding problem requires an intuitive leap or strategy shift.

New Articles, Reports Published About UW Research on Technology

JCHE UW research findings on technology are the topic of two recently published journal articles. The role of technological expertise, gender, and age and how they relate to the use of educational technologies are discussed in a Journal of Computing in Higher Education article, and a new EDUCAUSE Quarterly article recommends that universities consider the whole campus as a single learning environment. In addition, three new research reports provide recommendations for a campus-wide student technology strategy as well as detailed findings on UW Seattle students' technology needs and mobile device use.

Paccar Hall Opens at UW Seattle With Technology Enhancements

Paccar Paccar Hall, a new state-of-the-art building at the UW Foster School of Business, features U-shaped tiered classrooms, student breakout rooms, offices, meeting spaces, an auditorium, and an atrium with café. Technology enhancements include Web-linked digital monitors and distance conferencing capabilities. As part of the project team, UW Information Technology set up more than 750 new Ethernet connections and worked to bring voice and wireless to the building. Take a virtual tour or read a news story.

Software Through UW’s Microsoft Campus Agreement Now Available

Office_logo Most standard Microsoft products now are available to every department on all three UW campuses under the UW’s new agreement with Microsoft Corporation. Faculty and staff can check with their local technical support person for specific information on how to get the software, as each unit has different distribution methods for software installations and upgrades. The new annual agreement was negotiated by UW Information Technology and Purchasing, and costs are covered through the Technology Recharge Fee this year. See UWare for details.
