Don’t Be Tricked into Responding to Bogus Email Requests

Think Should you act on email claiming that your account has expired, so "click here" to update? No. The UW doesn’t ask for password updates via email. That’s handled in person or by phone. Scam artists prey on your fear to get you to act quickly, without thinking, to can gain access to your account. No contact name and phone number? Another red flag. Bottom line: Don’t reply; don’t click. See Safe and Secure Computing for related tips.

Fiber Optic Network Connects Northwest Hospital, UW Medicine

Fiber The Northwest Hospital (NWH)/UW Medicine affiliation has been strengthened with the deployment of a core fiber optic network in October by UW-IT. This enabled NWH’s radiation oncology and cardiology units to connect with UW Medicine and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance so clinicians now can efficiently access, evaluate, and act upon patient data across multiple data systems, sources, and formats. NWH staff also can access other online resources such as journal subscriptions. With this scalable network infrastructure in place, more units can be added over time.
