SpaceScout Helps UW Seattle Students Find Perfect Study Spots

Spacescout2_60Students can now use SpaceScout to find the perfect place to study at UW Seattle. The new SpaceScout mobile app, released in August for any iOS device, features some 200 study spaces in 26 buildings. Students can use the map, or search by criteria such as capacity, hours, amenities, and more. The Web version was released in mid-October. Learn more.

MyUW Goes Mobile

My.uw-60MyUW Mobile will be released October 23, providing UW students with course information “on the go”—including instructor contact information, required textbooks, course Web sites, and classroom locations. This mobile-friendly version of MyUW was built in response to priorities expressed by students, providing access to the information they said they want most. Visit MyUW on a mobile device to be automatically directed to the mobile-friendly version. Read more.

UW Instructors: Winter Quarter Courses Now Available in Canvas

Canvas_winter_60In time for next quarter's preparations, all Winter Quarter courses in the time schedule are now available online in Canvas, the UW’s learning management system. To set up a course site in Canvas, UW instructors can just log in to find their course. Need help getting started? Get how-to documents, workshops schedules, and drop-in hours and other help online, or send an email to help@uw.edu.

Help UW Seattle Save Energy: Install PC Power and Patch Management Software

Patch_60Did you know you can improve your computer system’s security while saving energy at the same time? At UW Seattle, faculty and staff can download IBM’s Tivoli Endpoint Manager (TEM)—PC power and patch management software—to manage power usage on their UW-owned Windows computers. TEM also patches some of the most common software packages including Firefox, Skype, and iTunes, all while supporting the UW's commitment to carbon neutrality as part of the UW Climate Action Plan.

Custom Workshops, Tools From UW Libraries Support Teaching

Instructor2_70Did you know that instructors can ask UW librarians to create a custom workshop for their students, to introduce resources and research techniques for their specific discipline? If a workshop is not feasible, ask for a research guide tailored to your course assignment, or get a short video tutorial embedded into your course Web site.
