UW to Help Develop Ultra High-Speed Network in Seattle
Ultra high-speed broadband and wireless networks will be coming to 12 Seattle neighborhoods as a pilot project of a new partnership, announced December 13, involving the City of Seattle, the UW, and broadband developer Gigabit Squared. The city will lease existing unused fiber to Gigabit Squared to support this effort, aimed at stimulating business opportunities, spurring advancements in fields such as health care and education, and enhancing quality of life for residents and businesses in Seattle. This demonstration aligns with the Gig.U initiative.
